The Art-Cade
Privacy Policy
Last updated September 28, 2026
The Art-Cade ("we," "us") is the rock shop arcade at 103 W Beverley St in Staunton, Virginia. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions are welcome at info@theartcade.net or (540)-255-7620.
Information you give us
We collect only what you type into our forms:
- Shop orders: your email address, and for orders we ship, the name and delivery address you give us.
- Parties & groups requests: your name, email, phone number, preferred date, group size, the occasion and anything you tell us about it.
- Our mailing list: the email address or phone number you sign up with.
- Event reminders: the email address or phone number you leave so we can remind you about an event.
If you email or call us, we have whatever you choose to share.
Payments
Card payments are handled by Square. You enter your card details into Square's secure payment form on our checkout page; your card number goes straight to Square and never reaches our servers. Square also receives the name and email you enter at checkout to verify the payment. We keep a record of your order: the items, the total, and Square's reference numbers for it.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers log basic technical details of each visit (IP address, browser type, the pages requested). We count visits with Matomo, a privacy-focused analytics tool run by our website provider rather than an advertising network.
Cookies
- Essential cookies remember your cart through checkout and protect our forms against forgery. The shop and forms need them to work.
- Analytics cookies are first-party Matomo cookies that help us understand how the site is used. They are not used for advertising.
When you close an announcement at the top of the page, your browser remembers that on your own device; it is not sent to us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How we use your information
- to fill your order, whether we ship it or you pick it up at the shop;
- to answer and plan your party or group request;
- to send our news, and the event reminders you asked for;
- to run, secure and improve the website;
- to keep the records that accounting and tax law require.
Who sees it
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the shop and this website, and only as much as they need:
- Square processes card payments and keeps the order record on its side.
- Amazon Web Services hosts the website, stores its data and backups, and delivers the emails the site sends.
- Google runs our email, where notices of your order or request arrive.
- Our website provider, who builds and runs this site for us, receives the same order and request notices so they can help us with them, and runs our Matomo analytics.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of The Art-Cade, our guests or others.
Music players on event pages
An event or performer page may include a Spotify player so you can hear the act. The player loads from Spotify, which receives your IP address and browser details and handles them under its own privacy policy.
Children
The Art-Cade is a family place, but this website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Our parties & groups form asks for a grown-up's contact details. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
How long we keep it
We keep order records as long as accounting and tax rules require. We keep party and group requests while we plan and follow up, and your mailing list and reminder details until you ask us to remove them. After that we delete or anonymize the information.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to take you off our mailing list, at any time: email info@theartcade.net. Some records tied to a completed purchase may be kept where the law requires.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including taking payments only through Square's secure payment form and serving the site over an encrypted connection. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
